Decks & Outdoor Living

Decks built for Ohio Valley weather.

From composite decks and covered porches to pergolas and screened rooms — permits, footings, framing, and finish work handled by one crew, one project manager.

Custom deck builds

Outdoor living that lasts.

A well-built deck adds real square footage to how your family actually lives — summer dinners, morning coffee, backyard weekends. Steel Valley designs and builds decks that survive Ohio Valley weather: engineered footings, proper flashing, ledger-board detailing that keeps water out of your house, and finish materials matched to the way you'll use the space.

Composite decking is our most popular choice for maintenance-free living — we install TimberTech, Trex, and Deckorators — but we also build traditional pressure-treated decks when the budget calls for it.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a new deck take to build?

Most residential decks take 2–4 weeks from permit to walk-through, depending on size, elevation, and material. Composite decks with covered roofs run longer.

Composite vs. pressure-treated — what do you recommend?

For a maintenance-free deck that lasts 25+ years, we recommend composite (TimberTech, Trex, or Deckorators). For budget builds and traditional look, we use kiln-dried pressure-treated pine. We walk through both at estimate.

Do you handle permits?

Yes. We pull all deck permits, engineer footings to local code, and schedule the required inspections. You do nothing but pick finishes.

Do you build covered porches and pergolas?

Yes — covered decks, screened porches, three-season rooms, and pergolas. Any outdoor living space we can build in the Ohio Valley.

How much does a new deck cost?

Ohio Valley decks typically run $45–$95 per square foot for pressure-treated builds and $85–$180 per square foot for composite with railings. Covered roofs, multi-level designs, and outdoor kitchens add to that. Every estimate is itemized so you see exactly where the budget goes.
